Beverley
Beverley signal box located by the Down Main line at the south end of the Beverley station alongside Chantry Lane level crossing. Wednesday 29th December 1982
Beverley signal box is a North Eastern Railway Type S4 design which opened in 1911 fitted with a 37 lever McKenzie and Holland Number 16 frame (36 levers plus a gate wheel), replacing an earlier signal box located a short distance to the north. The signal box was listed as a Grade II listed building on 30th June 1987 by which time the gate wheel had been removed and the lever frame had been reduced to 20 levers with lever numbers 1-10 and 31-36 being removed
By the signal box is 9 signal which is carried on a British Railways Eastern Region tubular post fitted with a white diamond that indicates to the driver that his train is occupying a track circuit that indicates his presence to the signalman. The signal with the arm 12 feet above rail level replaced an elevated ground signal in the same position on 28th September 1976, and was replaced by signal number B18 (down platform starting to up main), a three aspect colour light on 16th March 1985

Beverley North
Beverley North signal box located alongside the Down Main line by Hull Bridge Road level crossing. Wednesday 29th December 1982
Beverley Junction signal box was a North Eastern Railway Type S1a design which opened in the 19th century controlling the junction for the line to Market Weighton until that line closed on 29th November 1965. The signal box was rebuilt with a North Eastern Railway Type S4 design top circa.1910 with a replacement lever frame was fitted at the same time. The signal box was renamed Beverley North signal box at some time before the signal box passed into LNER ownership. The level crossing gates were replaced by lifting barriers on 10th February 1974 (the work was originally scheduled for 18th November 1973, was postponed to 9th December 1973 but was postponed for a second time) with the lever frame being reduced in size at the same time. The signal box closed on 16th March 1985 when the level crossing became controlled from Beverley signal box by closed circuit television
The signal box carries a London and North Eastern Railway nameboard
